Using image backgrounds on css is a nightmare, it’s driving me crazy.
I want to place a background that goes from one end to the other, making a total of 633 pixels, but when I start defining divs to split the content (links on the left, text on the right) the background disappears (except when using IE). The reason I am using only one background instead of a background for each div (left and right) is because I want both divs to match up in the bottom. Ok, this is hard to explain with words, what I want is this [67Kb .jpg], and what I am getting is this [70Kb .jpg],. Here is a sample of the css file:

div#main {
width: 663px;
background-image: url(images/bar_663.gif);
background-repeat: repeat-y;
}
div#leftdiv {
width: 213px;
float: left;
}
div#rightdiv {
width: 450px;
float: right;
}

Some help please. 🙂
